Contact Bodyskills (physical risk & fitness strategy sessions)
Contact Bodyskills is a mobility and physical-study program aimed at nourishing life and preventing injury. It draws on principle-based models of notable historical significance, along with contemporary sources.
"Lift with your legs" is a familiar example of a mechanically sound way to exert effort while protecting the body. This class extends that same idea to other fundamental techniques — ones that are widely known, easy to understand, and simple to put into practice.
There is an enormous amount of health and wellness information available today, and basic principles drawn from it can apply broadly to everyday activities. Practice is aimed at staying ready, staying focused, regaining calm when balance is lost, avoiding bumps and scrapes, softening the impact of falls, and turning stressful moments into manageable ones.
This is a structure-, function-, and safety-based study designed to build strength where there are gaps, raise awareness of hazards, and increase competency across all kinds of activities — work, tool use, recreation, and social settings.
Sessions are not typically physically demanding or stressful; the emphasis is on concentration and on correcting bad habits to support improvement. Sessions typically include elements recognizable from other categories of movement — sports, physical work, lifting, balancing, stretching, cardio, tool use, falling, and working through distractions.
No prior experience is necessary, and drop-ins are welcome. Private enrollment is considered case by case, and private consultations are available.
